Dr. Shahid Shafi is a surgeon, with extensive experience in healthcare management. Most recently, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Aga Khan University Hospitals in Pakistan. Previously, he served as the Chief Medical Officer and VP Population Health for Common Spirit Health system in Arkansas, CEO of the largest private practice surgical group in DFW area, Medical Director for surgical quality at Baylor Scott & White Health system in Dallas, and Medical Director for Trauma Surgery services at University of Texas Southwestern and Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
After graduating from AKU Medical College’s inaugural class in 1988, Shahid trained in General Surgery, Trauma Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey and the University of Pennsylvania. He also successfully completed an MPH from the Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.
In addition to his professional career, Dr. Shafi has also served as an elected Councilman in the City of Southlake and Vice Chair of Tarrant County Republican Party. Over his 35-year career, he has published over 100 articles and has mentored hundreds in the fields of medicine, business, management and politics.
